Our Collections Department is really important to us and our Customers.

Being a key driver for our success as a business, how you deliver to our Customers is critical. Caring and compassionate, you will help our customers navigate those financial times which are a little more challenging. You’ll not only demonstrate an eye for detail, but also an attentive ear. You’ll negotiate, problem solve and reach resolutions which are both fundamental for our business and meaningful for our Customer.

Our Collections department is diverse, with many areas to explore and support. We have teams specialising in Strategy and our Vulnerable Customers, to name just a few.  You’ll be encouraged to become involved with projects, create initiatives and develop your career with us. We are always looking to take your talent to its full potential and therefore, throughout the recruitment process we will be keen to understand any niche skillsets you have that may sit specifically to one of our smaller, specialist teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Working on a case by case basis, you will be reviewing those accounts with larger arrears balances or with a higher risk factor.
  • Investigating into those not so typical customer queries, which may include liaising with our Fraud or Underwriting teams.
  • Making crucial decisions on the next steps for the accounts where all other avenues of contact have failed.
  • Adhering to all regulatory policies to ensure our customers are treated fairly and the best possible outcomes are achieved at all times.
  • Demonstrating a pro-active, inquisitive and problem-solving nature to assist our customers in vulnerable and often complex situations.

What will you need?

  • Previous working experience within Collections, regulated environment.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • The ability to analyse and interpret data to reach resolutions.

Life in the Team

Based in our dynamic, central Cardiff office, you can expect a friendly and flexible culture, synonymous with our proposition to our Customers. There’s no doubt that this is busy role and you’ll be working hard. In turn, we play hard. We enjoy a host of regular social events, such as quizzes, team breakfasts, and there’s an annual awards ceremony too! Of course you will be compensated competitively, with a good range of core benefits and monthly bonus potential.

Working hours will be between 8am-7pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am-1pm. This will be on a four weekly rotation.

What training and support will I receive?

We appreciate that all of our current circumstances are very different to what they were a few months ago and as a business, we have all necessary measures in place to protect our employees and our candidates. With the current circumstances, there has been a huge focus on enhancing the support facilities for our team whilst working remotely.

If you are to be successful through to offer stage, we would be looking to arrange a start date for you, taking into account any notice period or other commitments. We will send your new laptop to your home address in readiness for your first day and on this day, our friendly Learning and Development Team will contact you to talk through how to log on and download systems etc.

In your first week you can expect introductory calls from your new manager, the Recruitment Team and a number of our support functions who will be helping you with anything you need. From this point on, your manager will be looking to schedule in 121 meetings, team meetings and will also be reviewing you training plan supplied by our Training and Competence Team. We are very lucky to have dedicated resource to training so you don’t have to worry about any uncertainty, your development will be seen as a priority.

What does the process look like?

The entire recruitment process will be conducted via various digital platforms which could include Webex or just a normal phone call. We appreciate that technology isn’t always our best friend so don’t worry if you face any issues, we will completely understand!

If you are successful at the application stage you will be contacted by a member of the Recruitment Team to go through a short telephone interview, this will also be a good opportunity to ask any questions you may have! Following this, we will look to arrange a first stage interview with a Collections Manager to understand your experience in further detail and you will also be required to complete a role play exercise. If you are to be successful to the final stage, the Recruitment Team will give you a call to explain the next steps for you.

If successful you will need to provide Proof of Right to Work in the UK prior to commencing your employment.
