Dealer Funding is a key end to end support function within MotoNovo Finance. Within a team of 17 including Officers, Analysts and Auditors; the team manages, administers and controls a portfolio of well over 400 funded dealers (around 1 in 6 of those dealer that support us) within which there are around 350 with APAK used inventory stock funding for which a core 80%+ of the departmental time is spent. Dealer funding is vital in as much as it is from funded dealers that MotoNovo receives 40-45% of its rolling annual new business, therefore it is naturally in the interest of the company to grow the portfolio of funded dealers and, because it is title secured and interest bearing, we actively look to promote APAK as very much our preferred form of dealer funding. A vital part of the process is to ensure that what is intended as a form of title based lending is just that, hence the audits undertaken to validate the vehicles that represent security for our lending and this extends not simply to touching metal on site but validating the title and ownership of the vehicles as well as the accuracy and timing of loadings and settlements in respect of sold vehicles.

Life in the team

The role of an auditor entails auditing up to circa 50 funded dealers the frequency of which will be determined by our internal assessment of dealer risk twinned with the experience at audit, with frequencies ranging from 2 to 8 weekly but typically 4-5 weekly. Therefore, there is a need to manage time effectively factoring in travel time, clustering of dealers, and the audits required to be undertaken within the auditing schedule set.

The results of audits are fed back via the VAS  software employed, and reviewed by Officers who will feed back to dealers any anomalies that will have been identified and flagged at audit by the auditor as part of the audit de-brief. Audit experience will also have a bearing upon our funding appetite in terms of limit and terms as this will fee in to behaviour grading which along with risk grades helps us to segment our portfolio between the good, the indifferent and the bad.

Each of the 3 teams is headed by a manager and periodically (up to 3 times per annum) we will all meet up in HO for team meetings and ensure this includes a social gathering where possible.

The audit manager will on rotation spend time with each auditor to train, observe and maintain a regular contact and ensure timely feedback is given.
