The role of Data Analyst is really important to us. It provides “A single source of truth approach to the commercial data, reporting & analytics needs of the Motor Finance business”, which enables leaders to make informed decisions and identify opportunities. This role will be based in our Cardiff office however, you will be able to work a blend of both home and office each week. You’ll be made to feel part of your new team by your Line Manager, and colleagues through regular contact and virtual interaction.

What would your day look like?

  • Be accountable for ensuring the highest degree of data integrity in the production of commercial management information.
  • Responsible for complex, highly sensitive and board level reporting used in strategic decision making.
  • Responsible for the commercial data and reporting requirements of business change, from business needs capturing through to delivery support.
  • Translate commercial needs into technical data requirements.
  • Ensure all new data sources are given a clear definition, aligning with group where possible.
  • Proactively consult and collaborate at all levels throughout the business to create, implement and interpret management information, highlighting opportunity, competitor activity and arising needs.
  • Collaborate with Business Change Teams to research and deliver automated reporting that promotes sales efficiency and drives success.
  • Develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders of all levels through the effective delivery of analysis, trend identification, value/efficiency/opportunity focused recommendations, reporting and front-line support.
  • Conduct MI reviews with key stakeholders to ensure that the reporting suite fulfills all the commercial needs of the business, owning enhancement requirements identified in an efficient and collaborative manner.
  • Create and deliver ad hoc sales tools and reporting where requested by Sales Leadership.
  • Participate in projects as requested by management.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up to date knowledge and understanding of products and services, providing accurate information and proactively promoting them where appropriate

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Evidence of advanced excel skills, with demonstratable experience using pivot tables, graphs, calculations (such as VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH), and automation to efficiently process large and relevant quantities of data.
  • Experienced coding in SAS that can be used to develop datasets and improve current processes such as automation of reports. Demonstrate a growth mindset through a willingness to learn other programming languages such as VBA or R and any other reporting tools such as Tableau.
  • Presents data in a manner that can be understood by all audiences and assisting in the interpretation of results to stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the sales performance scorecards assisting in their generation, maintenance and distribution, allowing for creative and innovative suggestions when consulting and building with Heads of Sales.
  • Identifies and consults on other sources of usable data such as data from customer or dealer surveys, CSI and external platform hosts and leveraging internal relationships to ensure its seamless implementation into the data warehouse
