We are now seeking a Regulatory lawyer with experience in Consumer Credit Act Regulation (CCA) to support business operations. The role is to start as soon as possible, and applicants are required to have experience in CCA Regulation and possess upwards of 3 years' PQE. Due to the nature of the role, candidates are likely to have gained their experience In-House from a banking or financial services perspective; a financial regulatory body or a law firm, and are likely to have handled FS Regulatory or Consumer Credit Act matters from a regulation and/or litigious perspective.

This role will provide a high quality, cost effective legal service whilst continuously seeking to improve personal competencies and appropriate processes, practices and policies.

This role will be based in our Cardiff or Manchester office however, you will be able to work a blend of both home and office each week. You’ll be made to feel part of your new team by your Line Manager, and colleagues through regular contact and virtual interaction.

What would your day look like?

This is an important position within the Legal and CoSec team at Aldermore and reports directly into the General Counsel. The team works closely with all parts of the business to deliver a high-quality legal service. The business is spread across several locations although the majority of the stakeholders for this position are based in the London office. The role holder can expect to work closely with all levels of the business including with the Executive Team.

What do we expect of you?

A good working knowledge of all aspects of regulated banking together with a thorough understanding of the banking business, its drivers, challenges and market practices are preferred.

A good working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework for financial products and services.

  • Legal case management and operational processes.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with all internal stakeholders and third parties.
  • Demonstrates sound legal and business judgement.
  • Possess strong influencing skills - able to advise the business on the best approaches, helping them to understand the constraints/risks and assisting the business in developing solutions.
  • Experience of working in an inhouse role is preferred.
  • Trained and gained post qualification experience at a leading City, national or international firm
  • High-calibre, confident, commercially minded with proven ability to manage complicated projects, excellent drafting skills,
  • Willingness and ability to work autonomously but to know when to engage assistance or seek additional support.
  • Ability to prioritise and to keep deadlines within a challenging environment.
  • Ability to rapidly develop confidence and trust with people throughout the group.
  • Financial Services Experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Proactive and “can do” attitude.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to embrace new challenges and issues outside of the specific role description.

The role requires working with external advisers so experience of managing law firms to budget and deadlines is preferred.
