Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent has always been a fundamental part of the MotoNovo ethos. Thanks to the commitment, energy and talent of our teams, and our training and development experts, the number of people who have progressed their careers across MotoNovo continues to be encouraging. In our Southern Region alone, ten of our field team members who started their careers in our Head Office have been promoted into various field roles.

We caught up with a few of them to hear more about their journey...

 "In my first role within the SME division, I was given ample opportunity to progress and given responsibilities that often pushed me out of my comfort zone. Gaining experience in managing commercial and franchise accounts furthered my desire to move into a field sales role, and I was successful in securing my first secondment on the South Coast as an Account Manager. Juggling a new role, new surroundings and a global pandemic was challenging but rewarding and I was fortunate to have a supportive manager and team to help me on that journey. Similarly, moving back to a more familiar territory in Wales, I’ve been lucky enough to experience great leadership and a team that is always on hand to help. It’s been nearly 4 years since I joined the company and I’m really thankful to MotoNovo. I’ve been supported in my career and personal development and there have always been opportunities to further my learning." - Rhys Knapman, Account Manager - Wales

 

"I first started working for MotoNovo in 2008 as an 18-year-old in the Payout team. During this time, I realised that I would like to become an Account Manager so I had conversations with my team leader to understand what I needed to do in order to progress. I wanted to understand different areas of the business, so I moved to the Customer Retention Department. This role involved some sales activity, and after a year in that role, I gained a promotion to become a Key Account Manager. In 2013, I was promoted to Account Manager for Herefordshire/Gloucestershire territory and promoted to Senior Account Manager in 2018 - which is where I am working currently, covering the Newport territory. Over the last 14 years, I have had some great memories and met some amazing people" - Joe Aldoori, Senior Account Manager - Wales 

 

"In 2018, MotoNovo offered me a position in the Dealer Services telephony team. I worked there for the next 10 months before I applied to become an Account Manager. During my time in Dealer Services, I had the opportunity to learn the day-to-day running of the business. My team was fantastic and they supported and guided me to fulfil my potential. Getting the job as an Account Manager in February 2019 meant I had to relocate to London. My experience of working with fantastic people continued when I joined the South East Team. I have always felt encouraged to progress, ask questions and learn – it's the perfect mix of feeling challenged and striving for more whilst safe in the knowledge that support is there when you need it." - Morgan Meaney, Account Manager - South East Team

 

"In 2007, I applied for a role with the Insurance Team as the Admin Office and I was successful. Within a few months of encouragement and coaching, I became an Insurance Advisor. 3 years later I joined the Customer Service Team and when the opportunity arose to join the newly formed Dealer Direct Team, I was successful in my application. This experience was invaluable. Later, I applied for a role in Birmingham, I wasn’t successful! I hadn’t prepared and others had. I took the feedback on board and within a few months a role became available in Wales. I hesitated at first as it was natural to think of the previous unsuccessful application. Our management team gave me words of encouragement and after some thought, I went for it. After a lot of preparation and reciting my presentation in my sleep, I was offered the role. I’m now 6 years in and have been promoted to a Senior Account Manager. It will be my 15th year in May 2022. My career here hasn’t been linear, it started by chance - but MotoNovo threw me a ball and then backed me to run with it." - Gareth Roberts, Senior Account Manager 

 

"Working in the field on secondment for 18 months allowed me to experience a new career path and pushed me outside my comfort zone. It enabled me to learn so much more about the motor finance industry and helped me understand more about the role and that I wanted to pursue it as a permanent career with MotoNovo. Once my secondment came to an end, an opportunity arose within the South East team on a permanent basis, I was successful in securing the position and it has been life changing for me. I had always dreamt of living by the sea, and that is now my reality every day. Doing a job I love and in a new area of the country is amazing and MotoNovo has helped me achieve this." - Lauren Tinton, Account Manager – South East

 

"My first role was on a 6-month temporary contact to cover maternity leave as a Key Account Manager in National Accounts. 2 years later I was promoted to an Account Manager for East London & South Essex. Another 2 years after that, I was promoted to a Senior Account Manager and then finally 2 years after that promoted to my current role as a Business Development Manager. Every step of the way, MotoNovo has been great in the support I received whether being encouragement or time invested by colleagues and managers to help prepare for interviews and presentations, right through to the level of support given afterwards in regards to training and additional learning. I felt that I was given everything possible to succeed, provided I was willing to put the effort in." - Matt Shepherd, National Business Development Manager – South

 

"I started in 2015 in our Customer Services team later moving onto Payouts where I worked my way up.  During lockdown, I interviewed for a position within Major Accounts on the Broker Team. Thanks to my management team, I have access to mentoring, our Women in Sales Network and the One Aldermore Female Network. For me, this encouragement is making a field role a reality. I’m so excited to join my new colleagues within the Southern Division, it’s going to be an amazing opportunity!" - Bethan Holley, Broker Account Manager, Major Accounts Division
