I chose to do an apprenticeship in financial services, as I thought it would be a great opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and try something I had never done before.

What drew you to the Apprenticeship Scheme at MotoNovo Finance?

After browsing many job sites, I came across the apprenticeship scheme at MotoNovo Finance. It caught my eye as it enabled you to develop job-specific skills whilst earning a wage, regardless of your previous experience.

Tell us about your MotoNovo journey since you started back in September 2018?

I have learnt many new skills since beginning my Apprenticeship at MotoNovo. The first two months were spent listening in to calls made by colleagues, which in turn helped me to learn all about the products MotoNovo have to offer.

Having never worked in a telephone based role before, I was apprehensive about taking the customer ‘welcome call’. However, following 2 weeks of quality training, I felt ready to begin making the calls myself. Despite my initial nerves, I began to find the experience rewarding and started to relax into the role.

What has been your greatest challenge and best achievement since starting at MNF?

The greatest challenge I have faced so far is trying to reach a 100% quality assurance score. Tiny wording changes or abbreviations can prevent me from reaching those top marks.
My biggest achievement would have to be beating my personal best and making 10 sales in one day!

What does a day in the life of an Insurance Advisor Apprentice look like?

A day in my shoes would be logging in at 9am and making customer calls right up until 5pm (with a break for lunch of course). The leads for all customer calls are organised and provided by the Insurance Admin team, so all my time can be spent making the calls.

What advice would you give a new Apprentice starting out at MNF?

When I was new at MotoNovo, my anxiety about the role was getting in the way of being able to relax and enjoy the experience. My advice would be to stick it out despite the nerves of starting something new and the enjoyment will soon come.
